9.8
The World Was Never Enough
Dive into "9.8," a physics-based 2D space simulation that puts together the technical challenges of Kerbal Space Program with the timeless charm of Lunar Lander. Currently the main game loop is complete, giving a few hours of gameplay
Rocket Science Is Hard
This is a game that challenges you to fly with physics instead of against them. Every mechanic is grounded in the same universal laws that real rockets face, meaning that many of the headaches that plague actual spaceflight are waiting for you here. Careful upgrades and the right equipment will help you survive the harsher features of the universe.
-
Balance fuel, weight, and thrust — every decision affects how far and how fast you’ll go.
-
Work with gravity, not against it — slingshot around planets, chain gravity assists, and master orbital mechanics.
-
Survive brutal reentries — velocity is everything. Come in too hot, heat builds up fast, and your ship won’t last.
Master the fundamentals, push your ship further, and see how far your skill (and patience) can take you.
v0.3.7.5
- Controller support added!!
- Building materials implemented. Launch pads and their upgrades, colonies and space stations now require building materials that need to be shipped from Alpha Prime or from off world colonies.
- Space stations now have an offline status, pending delivery of all building materials.
- Launch pads now have a storage space for building materials.
- Cargo bays can now be built in Space Stations to store building materials as well
- HUD now includes building materials.
- Infrastructure missions now refund the full price of building materials after completed.
- Building colony toast now refers that you can purchase building materials and how much passive income is the colony offering.
Current Development Focus:
- Seamless space exploration experience. No loading screens or simplified launch/landing sequences.
- Fine-tuning game mechanics, such as gravitational forces and vehicle dynamics.
- Implementing full physics interactivity.
- Economy, upgrades and equipment purchases.
- Early off-world colony development
- Fully implemented mission control with hours of content.
Demo Roadmap:
- Visual and performance enhancements for an immersive experience.
- Gamepad implementation.
- Full and seamless physics system that affects all objects in the universe.
- A fully explorable Solar system.
- Resources that need to be harvested from all around the solar system.
- Actual rocket construction, from the engine bay to the nosecone.
- More buildings, missions and mega-structures.
- Lush space themed original soundtrack.
Envisioning the Full Game:
- A vast array of planets and possibly different solar systems to explore.
- Planets and moons visuals completely reworked with continents, liquids and
elevation so that exploration is more rewarding and multi-leveled. - Staging mechanics for more complex missions.
- Asteroids, space creatures and easter eggs scattered across the galaxy.
- An astronaut type of character for complete freedom in different scales.
- A multi-layered resource/infrastructure/crafting system.
- Multiplayer implementation.
Dm us to join up on this adventure. Very early beta is open at the moment for whoever wants to try the game. Your feedback and support will help shape the future of "9.8".
